Our new narrow-fold seed planter – designed and built from the ground up in Australia – went on show in Victoria for the first time at this month’s Elmore field days.  We introduced our fresh-faced 6m Slimline Planter, assembled in-house at our production facility at Inverell in northern NSW.

The Slimline Planter is a brand-new venture for us and is a break-out from its established range of planters of nine to 30 metres in width. First unveiled at Agquip in August, the Slimline comes with 190mm (7’5”) and 154mm (6’) row spacings and weighs up to 9380kg with bins empty, though loading up with fertiliser and small seeds can take working weight up by five tonnes. Designed for sowing pasture, fodder and cereal crops, the planter folds narrow for easy road transport without the need for a pilot vehicle in most areas.

The machine is available either with a frame-mounted air seeder or in tow-behind. Taking the first option means gaining 4500 litres in capacity in a twin bin, plus the possibility of adding a 600-litre small seeds box. Or without the frame mounted bin a customer could use an existing tow-behind airseeder they may already own. The seed box is accessed using folding steps, non-slip platform and seed bag table.

Single or double disc, precision double disc and tine-compatible, the machine has 26 degrees of wing flex for ground-following ability and, when combined with parallelogram row units, offers consistent seed placement over uneven terrain. Connections are drawbar or two-point hitch, bin lids are hydraulically operated and sight-glass windows in the main bin means product levels can be easily checked.
